Une stomatite, généralement caudale, est observée lors de gingivostomatite féline. Cette maladie au caractère dysimmunitaire a une étiologie multiple et provoque une douleur importante.
La gingivostomatite chronique féline est un syndrome inflammatoire rebelle aux traitements médicaux qui évolue vers la chronicité. Son étiologie et sa pathogénie reposent sur un état dysimmunitaire buccal responsable d’une incapacité à gérer les agresseurs locaux que constituent principalement le calicivirus félin et les bactéries parodontales. Les présentations cliniques et l’étiopathogénie complexe et multifactorielle doivent être connues du praticien afin d’optimiser la prise en charge des chats atteints.
Feline chronic gingivostomatitis is an inflammatory syndrome characterized by its chronicity and is refractory to medical treatments. Its etiopathogenesis is based on oral immune dysfunction leading on incapacity to deal with local pathogens which are principally the feline calicivirus and periodontal bacteria. Clinical presentations and complex and multifactorial etiopathogeny should be understood by the veterinarian in order to enhance the care of the affected cats.
